You need an Angkor Pass to enter Angkor Wat and the other temples of the Angkor Archaeological Park. It is sold only by the official Angkor Enterprise, and it is not included in guide prices, including San Park’s tours.
The three passes
| Pass | Valid for | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 1-day | One single day | A quick highlight visit |
| 3-day | Any 3 days within 10 days | San’s 2-day tour plus a free day |
| 7-day | Any 7 days within 1 month | Temple enthusiasts and photographers |
Check the official Angkor Enterprise website for current prices before you travel. They do change from time to time.
Which pass for the 2-day tour?
Buy the 3-day pass. Two 1-day passes usually cost more, and the 3-day pass leaves you a spare day to return to a favourite temple at your own pace, for example for sunset at Pre Rup.
Where to buy
- The official ticket office on the road from Siem Reap to Angkor Wat. It opens before sunrise, so you can buy on the way.
- Online through the official Angkor Enterprise website. Buy only from the official site and avoid resellers.
Your photo is printed on the pass. Keep it with you all day: it is checked at Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and most other temples.
Common mistakes
- Not knowing the evening rule: a pass bought late in the afternoon (around 5 PM) usually lets you in for that evening’s sunset, and its validity starts the next day. Check the current rule at the ticket office.
- Leaving the pass at the hotel.
- Wearing shorts or sleeveless tops: the pass does not let you into Angkor Wat’s upper level if your shoulders and knees are not covered.
